Dr. Maxwell Maltz is the author of Psycho-Cybernetics. Ironically he began as a plastic surgeon. He presents four steps to constantly practice in order to develop a new habit of a healthy self-image. If you are not successful, it is because you do not believe you are or should be successful.
- Forgive others.
Holding onto resentment and anger only hurts yourself. Let it go. Forgive EVERYONE for EVERYTHING. Do this for yourself and expect nothing in return.
- Forgive yourself.
Forget your regrets, failures, humiliations. Let it go. Love yourself and forgive yourself.
- See yourself at your best.
Replace any image of doubt with an image of yourself being successful.
- Keep up with yourself.
Ignore everyone else. Forget what they have, what successes or failures they are experiencing. Grow and become successful for your own self-fulfillment and joy. Do what you want to do!
Remember, the most important step is step number 1. Do not continue until you have truly and completely forgiven others. If you are having trouble forgiving, use the power of love. Here is a great quote about forgiveness:
“Drink in the sweetness of forgiveness: of yourself and others. You must forgive a parent, a friend, a loved one, for the errors of the past. Forgive the hurt they caused you. Forgive it by loving in the present… Now.” ― Dr. Maxwell Maltz
Here are some other quotes from Dr. Maxwell Maltz:
“See yourself at your best.” ― Dr. Maxwell Maltz
“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as you can change your beliefs.” ― Dr. Maxwell Maltz
“Our self-image and our habits tend to go together. Change one and you will automatically change the othe” ― Dr. Maxwell Maltz
“Our self image, strongly held, essentially determines what we become.”― Dr. Maxwell Maltz
Happiness. Joy. Fulfillment. These abstract words are often misinterpreted. Either in how it is felt or how it is obtained. Tony Robbins puts it into a simple equation. Progress = Happiness. Wealth does not bring happiness. A gold medal or a raise or any other goal you may have does not bring happiness. No matter how amazing the goal is or how luxurious a possession is whether it be the mansion or the Ferrari or the yacht or the private island. Working towards and achieving the goal is what brings happiness. Progress is the essence of life. A tree will always grow as long as it is alive. Continue to grow and progress and you will continue to bring joy and fulfillment to your life.
